Poudre, gloire & beauté (War Paint)***

Poudre, gloire & beauté *** (Arte channel)
sequences: Loïc Prigent.

based on the book "War Paint: Madame Helena Rubinstein and Miss Elizabeth Arden, Their Lives, Their Times, Their Rivalry" by Lindy Woodhead

Very interesting documentary w many stylish footage and story well told.
Helena Rubinstein looks regal in the film and Arden elitist. I think I like Rubinstein's vigor in life - Arden also tough lady. Rubinstein collected art, Picasso made sketches of for her portrait which she didnt like! :) True Artists are not service providers, thats why the portrait is not flattering in the way she likes it. Almost all painters have in their life to paint clients who did not appreciate the way they were seen. Isnt this funny? But if she had, this portrait would have been one of the most important work in her collection, I think.
I liked the sketches, v expressive. Rubinstein was a star.
