mixed voice; after a week of exploration of the karaoke software at "Everybody K songs", I am amazed and love the application v much.
First, the song database is huge, if you could think of it, they have the song. And the app allows a free account holder to upload their own material, a song or video clip! How cool is that!
Secondly, as you learn a song, the app propose to you, want some singing tips? Watch this teacher giving you some advice on how to sing this song, and you click, somebody is there to explain to you some intricate way of improving your singing,
of course, you might not need this, everybody could sing in their own style and be free;
Thirdly, after each completed testing, you get an evaluation, following a five point scale, emotional expression, pitch accuracy, rhythm, technique, breath.
Then you get an overall score, and ranking, did you get A B C D or nothing start over again, and the upper range is S,SS,SSS. If you have at least an S, your interpretation could be counted towards some small rewards.
You could offer flowers, money, and other gifts to a singer that you appreciate, and also do duet with them.
You could duet with a favorite pop star, etc etc
Totally fun and helps w learning to sing. Making the process extremely addictive and you do learn, I did!
There is also a daily ranking of how well you did amongst your friends, and in all of China! Imagine that!
I saw an episode of Dimash in a singing concert show,where the show has organised challengers, a la karaoke method, and found all these challengers, it was spectacular to see a wall full of screens and all these challengers singing.
Three or more candidates were chosen to come onto the show to sing in real life live w Dimash, such creative game like singing show. I admire the organiser. I will try to find the link to Youtube for this. Really amazing, a good example of deploying modern technology for everybody.
So back to my karaoke experience,
I discovered a song sung by my choir teacher, and I learnt it because i know the real life singer. It makes a difference to me whether its a star on tv or somebody i really know in real life.
So, here I include some other nifty things the app does.
You can upload your own creation via computer, maybe also via phone, but i discovered the computer version that allowed this, so I tried it and it worked. So happy!!!

Listening v carefully each sound, and the quality of the sounds
Joined an amateur choir, choir teachers conductor Mr. Xin BO (tenor Opera Metz) and Mr. JIA Yi Ran to learn about singing in a choir, harmonising, singing in unison, voice training etc. what is Bel Canto etc And also other Opera singer teacher friends, whom I try to understand issues with non stop questions and they kindly tolerate me.
Not completely DIY now, I could ask my teachers, online, offline, in real life, all my questions. Thanks to their generosities, I am doing this one step at a time.

The target is to sing "Qiu Yi Nong" to see how long does it take for me to feel that its "ready"
This would be the control sample for practicing of the voice - which would be applicable for other songs.

My favorite song "The Crown" from last year (2017?), when I first discovered this song during Christmas, due to covid confinement - cant go anywhere, except online!
I wanted to find out who sang it. The lyrics are so humorous and fantastically playful with traditional poetic Chinese word plays, it points to Classical museum beaux arts culture and standard Chinese folk culture centering on what is love, love and torture, refined sufferings of love etc. The turmoils of a crown of thorns. Such a great song, and the music itself is genius, a ready to sing easy to sing along song. The hard part is the vocalisation near the end, which Dimash himself sometimes doesn't sing in preformances. (I have practiced this part for fun many times! Just in case... without this aria part, the song is a regular sing along tune)
Then I learnt about Dimash as a super singer!! Its interesting to see how he interprets this a few years later.

throat v dry - cant sing today, is it because of the alcohol i drank last night? But what about people like Dean Martin, he drank too, drank heavily, how come they could sing without any problems?
sang to a karaoke track a few times, and its really boring! Unlike singing to a background track that I prepared myself. V strange. I think it is because the karaoke tracks are usuallly v simple to make it available to a general public, whereas a track i make myself is customised to my own preference, of course I would like it better. The karaoke version is a bit like paint by number painting set, whereas the self made track is like a sketch, a rough sketch of a base from which i like to work on and develop.

In fact, I realised that I am fine tuning an instrument, a wind instrument - my voice is like a wood wind instrument, but there is no wood.
Its my body, human body pushing wind through the breathing and vocalisation out through the mouth, making the passage of air through various resonators in the body. I saw from the teaching classes of Dimash's former teacher, at his music school. The teacher said, asking a yg man to do vocal demonstration and said that he is not in great health right now, thats why the voice is not at top form.
I then see that, Singers do a lot of exercise, running, swimming, practice. Its maintenance of an instrument. This instrument is organic, not a wood wind which takes less daily care.
So, in learning to sing, I am actually fine tuning my body's sound making capacities. How long does this take?
I told my teacher friends that the plan is a 6 years diy learn to sing plan. Two teachers said, actually three is about right. Upon hearing this, i am so happy and will focus on this in a much more rigorous attentive way. Now that i am in a choir, I hope to pick up more singing skills.
