Qin Playing ladies: Qiu Ying Ming Dynasty

Francoise Dolto: Is it useful? Recommended reading, a Handbook for Children with Difficult Parents

Psychoanalysis and Paediatrics: Key Psychoanalytic Concepts with Sixteen Clinical Observations of Children -

Francoise Dolto, very interesting book.

This book is Françoise Dolto’s 1939 medical thesis and is dedicated to medical practitioners, paediatricians, and parents without prior knowledge of psychoanalysis. Françoise Dolto’s aim was to sensitize people to the unconscious dimensions of many problems in children. She demonstrates here, through sixteen case studies, how often children’s difficulties at school and at home – be they behavioral or due to impaired learning abilities – are the expression of psychological issues linked with their developing sexuality and castration anxiety, and result in physical symptoms such as enuresis and encopresis.

Dolto points out that the awareness of the self and self-responsibility often develops for young people in families in which the parents do not know how to listen or even more importantly cannot be listened to with trust. There is also a summary of Freud’s theories of the different stages of the evolution of the drives, as well as the central developmental role played by the castration complex, castration anxiety, and the Oedipus Complex.

Interstellar **half

Interstellar **half

Many loop holes here that makes the movie not v moving at all.  Hero, saving humanity, with only 3 people?  The basis of the film is not well plotted.  And the super driver of a spaceship on a dusty farm, hmm, in any job today, if you are out of the office for 6 months, you cannot catch up - someone else is better or should be at least as gd as you would have taken your place immediately.

There are many problems w this film, some dramatic scenarios but these are insufficient to make up for the quality of the film.

Near the end, the daughter has been brought back to life from cryanologic preservation - all her grand children are there - wouldnt they be very awed and express some emotion to see this v youthful grandfather, savior of humanity to be in the room w them?  One second sweep is all we get.

The movie is 3hrs long - and lots of pseudo space time talk that sounds even silly to me.  In all historical fact/fables, say, Noah's arc or Ming Dynasty sea adventurers to conquer the next inhabitable world, usually there are huge fleets of ships, water, people food, from all animals, male+female, to 2yrs worth of life sustaining supplies - here they are leaving for outer space, with only 2 poeple?  And these 2 are top tier scientists?  Doesnt make sense.  Mystical coding - "stay" - such strange coding.  Why not make it at least one sentence?

Anyway,  its too long, too wordy, too illogical and too heroic on a superficial level to make this anything moving.

Jiang Wen ::

http://hk.apple.nextmedia.com/enews/realtime/20141121/53150522

Mixed Reality with FlyingSoul Scribes - real life artist Bertrand Dezoteux -  Studio installation at Grand Palais, 18dec - 30dec08
In the installation, there was the real live broadcast studio, and pre-studio waiting space which is a tunnel of light.  And pre-tunnel of light, the avatar-participant stays logged on in sl to wait for the slurl (destination of the tunnel of light).

In real life, the artist is in physical space at Grand Palais with his computers and internet links.  The secondlife studio is projected onto a screen in Grand Palais, catch as catch can style.  A whole slew of avatars are displayed on screen.

I think this is such a wonderful project as it allows everyone to participate.  Just putting the avatar together takes a lot of time.  And all the waiting online, online to get into the pre-live space, and the live space.  It all takes a lot of time and creativity and thoughts.

Here I have IMed two friends, one from japan and another from Portugal.  They came and sat on the shooting session.

I had Swannjie playing the guqin for the shooting.

I received an slurl from FlyingSoul, so I played around in his studio for a few hours! Yes, a few hours!! Since there was nobody there. Very good, I find this installation is high quality and such a fine set up. The studio is planned so avatars could land, play around in a light tube first; then go into the waiting area - on sofa and globe chairs - then sit on pose ball - exported into the stage - people could wait in a line, not to leave an empty stage. I was number 147 on the counter.

Creative Machine: The digital revolution lives on in a new art exhibition at Goldsmiths

London’s art, design and computing worlds will collide at Goldsmiths, University of London when the exhibition Creative Machine opens on 7 November 2014

This major exhibition explores the twilight world of human/machine creativity in contemporary art, including installations of video and computer art, artificial intelligence, robotics and apps by twenty-five leading artists including well-known international artists, Goldsmiths staff and students.
The exhibition will feature international artists such as Naoko Tosa and Yoichiro Kawaguchi (Japan) Jon McCormack (Australia), Cécile Babiole (France) Félix Luque Sanchez (Belgium), Quayola (Italy) alongside leading artists from Goldsmiths and 2014 Lumen Prize gold and bronze award winners, Andy Lomas and Patrick Tresset and leading digital artists Memo Akten and William Latham.
Many of the works on show will be created live in the gallery using specially-designed hardware such as customised drawing machines, video projection, robots arms and 3D printers.
The show has been curated by Goldsmiths professors and artists William Latham, Atau Tanaka and Frederic Fol Leymarie.
Creative Machine reveals the interdisciplinary nature of computer art, with many of the artists collaborating with scientists in areas such as Neuroscience, Bioinformatics, Maths, Biology and Psychology. The artists showing use a range of novel technological approaches including machine learning, cellular growth simulation, fuzzy logic, organic structure mutation and automated aesthetic selection to create work, allowing them to explore new uncharted creative domains.
The artists are shown across six main themes: Mechanical Creative; Robotic Drawing and 3D Printing; Machine Image/Sound; Mutation Art; Pioneers and Critical Practice.
William Latham, Professor of Computer Art in the Department of Computing at Goldsmiths said: “The vision for the Creative Machine Exhibition is to show exciting works by artists who use original software and advanced technology in the creation of their work, often blurring the roles of the artist and machine in the creative process. The aim is also to coincide the timing of this exhibition with the current wider growth of public interest in digital art stimulated by such events as The Barbican Digital Revolution Exhibition.”
Professor Atau Tanaka added: “Goldsmiths Computing is proud to contribute to this digital revolution and take a lead in the debate about what defines digital art”.
Artists showing in the Creative Machine are: Memo Akten, Cécile Babiole, Daniel Berio, Damian Borowik, Paul Brown, Sean Clark,  Simon Colton, Brock Craft, Ernest Edmonds, Ian Gouldstone, Harwood/Wright/Yokokoji, Yoichiro Kawaguchi, William Latham, Lillevan, Andy Lomas Manu Luksch, Alex May/Anna Dumitriu, Jon McCormack, Parashkev Nachev, Vesna Petresin, Quayola, Félix Luque Sanchez,  Naoko Tosa, Peter Todd, Balint Bolygo and Patrick Tresset.
The opening of the exhibition is preceded by the Goldsmiths' Human Interactive Conference, which explores human-machine interaction across computer games, neuroscience, psychology, robotics and computer art.
The exhibition is supported by The Arts Council England and the Enterprise Office at Goldsmiths.

« Five robots named Paul » drawing Nino
Novembre 2012

Sculpture :: modular material :: sculpture using nails: John Bisbee

http://www.boredpanda.com/nail-sculpture-john-bisbee/

12-Inch Nails Turned Into Stunning Sculptures

John Bisbee has spent nearly 30 years welding and forging 12-inch nails into amazing works of sculptural work. This might sound like a misplaced act of dedication until you see just how beautiful and impressive his sculptures are.
Bisbee writes that he is guided by the mantra “only nails, always different.” This comes across loud and clear in his work, since he has put this seemingly simple and limiting component to hundreds of different creative uses, many of which expand to consume an entire wall or room.
The story goes that his fascination with nails began when he was scavenging for metal parts to use in his sculptures. He upturned a bucket of rusted nails, noticing that they retained the shape of the bucket they were in. This fascinated him, and he spent the next 3 decades exploring his newly discovered medium!
