I got an invitation from an unknown who runs a Guqin group in China, so I joined. Here I could read about what guqin means to contemporary twenty something players. One girl said, "felt depressed today, and played the Qin (guqin), she felt good afterwards, like a filter, it cleanses her. But not happier, just this stuffy mood is gone... " (Isnt this what culture does for us all? A minimum function. At its most powerful, it gives us a direction for listless expanses of time which are so abundant in real life. Whether you play the drums or painting, or making a super online community site? Like, like "ArtsBirthday" here by Peter Courtemanche from Vancouver - whom I have never met. But through his creation, his platform for everyone, we share his passion. Culture is a big gift to people. Look at this super talk on statistics,, importance of culture for everybody, Hans Rosling - this guy could prove what culture means through numbers! Creative, entertaining, convincing hard facts.) His main message: "The seemingly impossible is possible." While I was looking at the video, discovered a talk by Philip Rosedale on Secondlife.

...then the blogger goes on to talk about other things - like reading other peoples blog, :) a day trip to the countryside etc. The text about Qin is just one blip, maybe 1% of the entire entry of the day. Her profile pic is a hand on a guqin.

The importance of culture (content) is obvious; after you got the latest iphone, the latest twitting device, the latest online shared real time whiteboard technology etc. you immediately will switch to the next upgrade - if it is really a better version! Cultural content is much slower, always comes before the container to me. We want to relive the content, whereas we want the latest container, next!

Sometimes without the container, its impossible to hold the content. Because of our content, we look and find proper containers. It is much harder to do it with any lasting emotional flavor if you did it the other way. (Where are those nifty "interactive cd-roms" ten years ago?) That is why, Secondlife is such a super immersive 3D VW container, but once the content develops, there will be other containers, competition, alternatives... other solutions. Wonderful arrays of selections.

Here is a photo of the handpress used to bind the DGM logbook - BD's first original handmade book. BD is very excited. He does not allow me to make any comments before its finished! Not even to look at the loose proof pages... BD's got a relative - a professor (maybe someone very busy or not too busy?) - who was a master book binder in his spare time - looking at the the books he made and the equipment he had, he was definetely not a simple hobbists! he did these shelves and shelves of very impressive real leather binding with this machine. And tiny miniature jewel like address books the size of credit card for his daughter. That, is love! Now, the binding press is gifted to BD.

BD Haiku; hardcopy of my blog, somebody got a perm!

Somebody's feeling good and adventurous; she got a perm!

BD Haiku has proposed to make my blog into a hardcopy book, and he did. 600 pages, it looks really cute, and beautiful. He explained, first, I sew these pages into small sections, then I sew the sections together, then I put tarlatten ... then I put.... Hardcore book binder professional, I told him, please let me check over the text and put in more pictures because at the beginning of my blog, there were zero pics, even though I had many many snapshots. I didnt know how to upload pictures. He said, no need. A journal is a journal; it is also your process, you learn as you go along. It is true; I dont really have time to go back to fix all the typo, polish the sentences... go through the hard disk of thousand snapshots..., recrop select, make captions... all that goes into making a hardcopy book. I am totally pooooooooped.

Its snowing outside, I am so happy to look at the snow falling. Reminds me of Canada.

I feel very good watching Swannjie doing exercise, and Ange so beautiful when he does the movements. When the avatars built frail, the exercise animation doesnt look so convincing. But here, just like ballet, beautiful beautiful! Also you mustnt wear too much cumbersome clothes, such as monks robe etc are no no, just like in real life. hahahahhah

Invited to a U2 concert, have never been to a real sl concert before! I was given a ticket ! and while I wandered off the dance floor to see other parts of the club, this guy asked to see my ticket! So I had to wear the badge on me, see, just like rl. :)

I went to a cake shop today - never imagined i would shop for food in sl!

All because i wanted to see if i could take a special birthday card to send to a friend for her birthday... first i thought take pictures in a nice flower place... everybody loves flowers, and this is not just a bouquet, its a whole field and field of petals and cherry blossoms...

Maybe something familiar, like a warm sunny Tim Hortens great land of the air and free space a super casual charm coffee place? Canadian content? No, flowers, flowers says it best. Flowers are the best.

Saitot kindly took me to her favorite pretty places. Tempura, and by luck, the owner, Mr. Eel, a very busy photography in rl was on site. He kindly let me rezz my plum tinyhouse on the sim and i took pics. Then, i took pics without the house on my own taking more time. Then i thought, what kind of celebration is it, if there is not the words "Happy Birthday" directly in the card?

What about a cake? So, here we are, me in a Japanese cake shop choosing chocolate or mango cream or strawberry... they all look very delicious. I got mango of course. And some small individual ones. There was a special cocktail complete with sipping sounds and animation of swizzle stick - it asks fun questions automatically. What a good idea! Isnt this what poeple do at parties? Asking questions for fun... generator of conversation and drinking round after round? And this cocktail does it for you automatically, with or without the people and the party is on. Its a do it yourself cocktail party in a glass. :)

Installation at Water, what would still be good at 2018? Maybe the Guqin and Digital Guqin Museum will be up and still around? Given 3000years track record for the guqin, I am just adding a drop in the sea. This is the Virtual World Model. Come visit! Try the guqin, play, listen, do you like the sound? Professor Roadmap Writer has set up a Competition, what would be useful and still valid in ten years time?
More coming. Swannjie was sent to set up the Mobile Digital Guqin Museum, in ten years time, the Guqin will still be around. Emperor Song HuiZhongs painting of Listening to the Guqin will still be as good as ever. Swannjies contribution is to create a Mobile vehicle where Master players could be invited to perform in various beautiful settings in the world in sl and in rl.

Emperor Song HuiZhong had a Wanqin Tang 『萬琴堂』 ("10,000 Qin Hall") at his palace.

This Mobile Music is a special space where once you enter you are immediately transported to an intimate time and space for yourself. A first rl trial was made of white luxury grade lambskin, exhibited at Poznan Chateau 2006 (yes, where Hitler used to speak from a certain balcony)so you could imagine the size, style and physical quality of the host building. The lambskin Mobile Music was set up with an installation of a 24hour non repeating Digital Guqin music software - audiences loved the beyond time intemporal feeling of this space.

Mobile Music is now available for the first time in sl, specially designed for sl, the sl community, and for rl Virtual World Immersive experience.

We will bring the Mobile Music space from place to place, see what sl people think. Sl avatars are an self determined aspect of rl people. They have reasons to be in sl - each one in their own specific personal context. Can the Mobile Digital Guqin Museum space bring people special moments - calling all the way from 3000 years ago, coming directly in our techkie-centric world, going beyond the rl everyday ?

Some suggestions of when to play and when to not play the guqin from the ancient (yes, they documented everything, including when how why), to be adjusted according to your own preferences and interpretation... :)

about the predicament of a white racist woman one day got sick and became black, then turned back to white again. (This idea could be the stuff of many movies...)

A great cast of dancers - whats very good is that they are all very different, with many body types. But the story, and the singing - too caricatural and cynical, no real intention to understand human issues - this movie is an empty envelope, its not a light way to treat a serious issue in France as the star proclaims, its just empty. What if the Agathe Clery marries a black man after all this racist then reverse racist experiences ? The story is so rough - as if its really a touchy subject, better becareful of what you are about to say... Its a series of dancing postcards - and Valerie Lemercier can dance. I saw her in a one woman show a few years ago, she has choreographed nice dancing body movements, original dancing gestures. Or, in this film, has it been helped with much special effects? The camera moves so fast, you cant really see whats going on. Its a musical but for some reason it doesnt have the charm of the oldies. It feels like running out of ideas, now you do this.
