Pierre Rissient recommended the film "1905 Winter" by YU WeiCheng, a tale about lives of foreign Chinese students in Japan during the war. The film is a forerunner of Taiwan New Wave cinema completed circa 1980, and soon to be in the Cinematheque collection of Paris. Originally it was to be presented at Cannes, under "Un Certain Regard", however, due to certain conditions, it was presented at Hyères Film Festival. This film has Edward Yang, Tsui Hark, as actors in the film. YU was 29 year old at the time. YU is Dean of Film and Video Department at Tainan University of the Arts.
