"Call me by your name", the contextual scenes are v beautiful and truthful. Movie is more detailed and explicit than others that I have seen on the same subject - that of gay love in the heterosextual majority of a conservative society but set inside a cultured and liberal family. The hidden signs and hints and subtlities, social regards towards gay love, how things begin, how come the boy missed the signs at the beginning and wasted time. Also the movie shows a type of joy and freedom thats v diff from heterosexual love and courting attractions. Women are seen and shown as another type of beings they are much more feet on ground type of people. Its the men who are free. Malfalda, the housekeeper is shown many times doing different house hold chores, even though the mother doesnt do any house work -she is just one grade higher but her position is still the same. If the house worker was a man, this would have changed the social standing of the family. And usually if you have a man servant, there would have been many more woman servants... etc. In this way, even though its a story thats set in a calm, easy goingl day in the lives of an elitist cultured home, somehow, it is a little bit "nothing changes" type of time passing. V nice movie. v kind, it presents in a v gentle way what sexual attractions between two men could be. I think of the film Wild Reeds, Roseaux Sauvage, where two yg men had a go at gay love, after a time, one of the two goes back to find the other, and the other told him , that, he was temporarily gay only, its not really his thing. So, in that context, yg people could also explore without too much harm. Here in this case Olio, as a young boy, skinny, sensitive, inexperienced, to him, its a big deal. To the more experienced one to Oliver, its just that, this is a special moment, an episode that took care to make it nice for everyone, and it is also a part of his possibilities in society. I wonder if the same theme on women, does it happen so easily? Are there any such movies?
