"Barbie", 3 and half stars

 "Barbie", 3 and half stars

So I saw Barbie, the movie theatre was full, full of teenagers, smaller kids, moms, and I saw a yg couple dressed up in pink outfit and black cowboy attire! And other pink outfitted girls.

The movie did not mention that the adult doll was originally created by a German company, the doll with stripe swimsuit was not yet Barbie, the doll was renamed and marketed by Mattel. Great idea.

I own many Barbie dolls myself. I used them for human scale in model making and to give ambiance for a setting. So the movie, Margot the star was perfect for the role, she has the Barbie type of beauty, and big smile. Perfect. The Ken, of course was also v gd. What dont l like about this movie? I think the Weird Barbie could be more interesting. The whole movie is quick paced, skimmed over without much in depth layers. But, this is Barbie, the doll that every girl owns at one point of another. Like the doll itself, you cannot not go see it. Just for curiosity, what did they do to Barbie, what stories did they try to tell through this movie. Its supposed to have depth but serious feministe content, but all is too "marshmellow" quick and easy. Ken's bicep, singing w plastic models... in todays world, Barbies have been rejected as toys for girls, no equality. All about skin deep things - but i know some friends their ideal and mannerisms are Barbie like. However, dont worry, Barbie issues will stay w Barbie toyland. In todays world, so many online multiplayer role playing games, it is far more richer, with real time interaction, social play, you can buy all kinds of fancy clothing - it fullfils the fashion play component of dress up games, every avatar is a digital Barbie, Ken and Alan... But I enjoyed the movie, it is an important part of children growing up in the 70s - 80s? Beautiful mannequin with many uses from fashion design to role play to whatever. Pregnant Barbie, normal body shape Barbies, all these will never be popular. Its fun and entertainment, no one wants to pay to have a doll that looks like anybody on the street without personal charm that the owner wants to have. Film is a little bit too cotton candy for me.
