diy singing experiment, milestone report
Exactly when i started? will check blog, but it was mainly taken on as experiment during Covid lock down, thats when i had a lot of time.
Some dates
1:: started w choir voix de printemps, because i want to learn to sing some traditional chinese songs
joined a presentation in 13eme arrondissement
2:: didnt continue much w choir, because i soon get tired of the type of songs, but i took group lessons, w the director of the choir who is an opera singer, it was mainly singing scales 20mn each, in group of 10, you could watch others lessons and also film
3:: stopped going, tried again year later, still the same, started to make excuses and not go anymore
4:: covid, quickly left the city to go to the country side
5:: nothing to do, so listened to diff songs etc, came across The Crown of Thorns sung by Dimash
Dimash has a huge range, and a melancholic timbre, v soulful type of sweetness. I feel that hes like a human piano, the kind of songs he sings, we could learn as it is a regular step by step type of singing. Neo classical he calls it. We could all learn classical bel canto its a question of whether your voice is v endearing or not so endearing, its a learnable method. Unlike someone like Janis Joplin, that you could never learn. So, i have found a mesmering teacher, i listen to him for hours days on end. :) joined D fan clubs etc. by and by. He doesnt know I am his student. hahah, like thousands other probably - i hope all the best for him.
6:: tried to sing A beautiful rose on my own, v difficult v heavy footed, tried many times, there are recordings of this period
7:: Give me a kiss, tried, also v heavy, also have recordings
8:: christmas time, used The Crown intro as christmas card
9:: joined Dimash fan club, took up challenge, Mona is a great super gal, she sang a few notes w me, and I tried to improve, many versions later
10:: tried diff songs, re joined choir, the director has changed to YiRan, also super opera vocal guy, learnt how to listen, these are online web classes
11:: went to see concert Dusseldorf
12:: joined Freya OSS, for 3 months, won one prize vocal coaching. coaching v gd. on zoom 27us per month for one year, but cancelled after 3 months, no group feedback. Freya is a v gd teacher though. She just doesnt have time.
13:: quit oss due to sluggish activities, and no group feedback not suitable for me without group feedback
14:: sang w smule singers some, and continue w WeSing app
15:: 9nov2023 joined Cheryl porter sso, Agilit-tea, mainly v yg student i see, will see how that goes 128us per course. I want to sing duet w Cheryl like on those youtube, clips... :)
most of her students are v yg, and freya said, these students are v gd already v talented kids
16:: Dimash has concert in hk announcement
17:: i volunteered to sing at an Ephad for "Chinese Festival Weel" there is one other singer, as it is in the middle of the wk, not many people are available. I want to test Qiu Yi Nong and immed the organiser and others jump to say, wow, its a v hard song etc. hmmm I enclosed my singing clips to show them before hand, so if its not suitable, they have time to adjust. Doesnt matter to me, if not gd enough, i just wont go, i am not a pro singer. Just sang some k songs, karaoke singer.
Not sure how to do it yet, its in 3 days. Do i bring my karaoke tripod and headphone etc. i just bring my things i guess,dont want to make a mess w things i dont know/ Need to prepare ahead of time, even though it is a small little event. Stay tune!

I want to sing duet w CP, and lot of people helped by giving me instructions on how to get to the tik tok and how to do it: :)
Now
my future work is to sing lightly w full scale on piano for warm up. Use natural voice and use full voice as far a poss.
