I did not use karaoke app at the beginning, because I don't have such equipment at home, but the choir teacher told me about the smart phone app and it turns out to be perfect for my use.
But a real life teacher could fine tune your voice that a self practice app will take a lot longer because you might not know where to look.
But, there is no "wasted" time - because there is no deadline - everything you do will augment your process. Only thing I sort of worried was learning bad habits, made irreversible damage to my voice.
Since I am not learning from a rock star but more structured classical singing this damage is not likely.
However, i noticed that often, belle canto singers when singing pop doesn't sound v gd - voice is too polished like a glossy candy.
Is this true? Will find out and let you know. If, singing has to do w muscle memory, then some sounds are gd for some kind of singing but once installed cannot be un-learnt so easily?
What do you think, dear singers in the Dears?
