(had accident, the tray fell over when i moved it around, so I re-potted all the stuff, and discovered a lot of hidden seeds w germination starting, which was still not visible. result: All 13 germinated)

The most tasty kumquats i have tasted came from Guilin, paper thin skin, very sweet, and fragrant. The vendors told me be careful, dont eat too much you will get an upset stomach. I ate I think one pound, like grapes, skin and all. I am sure I had kept the seeds to grow, but I dont have any records of it.
Now is the time. :)
These are not as sweet nor paper thin skin, but still very very good.
Kumquat tea infusion with honey. Very good for throat, for singing.
I watch a couple of youtubes - lots of diy videos - to see how to do the seeding properly, you must peel the husk from the seeds, so they germ easily, and you should rinse the seeds clean. Which I did not do, so i removed two seeds and peeled them. Just to see if they do germ faster.
Great actress. As the film progress, we see more and more inner workings of the world, at many levels. All adults must negoticate all these various points of contacts w the self. From family, children, lovers, jealousy, aging being always looking or being attracted by new younger fresher love, how men have been dealing with these same issues but w much less punishments... the whole movie is v succinct, it does not need to waste time on verbalising these issues.
What a challenging role to play, and such a great actress.
Stylish, the actor Peng Yuyan is very handsome and fluid. He has a v beautiful body and moves very well on the chase, running away scenes on roof tops. The movie is very aesthetic, some dialogues are humorous and curt, however this type of charm even though dispersed through out the movie, does not make the movie a strong story telling vehicle.
Near the end, it is dragging. The fight scene in the stone court yard is especially unbelievable, waste of time. You point the gun and I point gun but no one shoots, but walks around in circles. This standard face off scene has been used so much, especially in kung fu movies, its not doing much.
The two main women characters are both pretty eye candies, one clean and undercover agent, a fashion stylist. The other mistress of the big boss, sexy also undercover of a sort.
No true sexy scene nor romance, the story is a running list of actions beautiful shots. And some cheeky references to the buttock, not sexy nor funny nor anything. Its used as a gimmick to sexiness, or erotic themes. But insufficient.
Peng Yuyan with the beautiful body is shown nude running in a sheer bathrobe on roof top. Once again, very nice images. If you want to sell this, need more closeups and better pretext, let us see w more muscles, sweat, etc.
His facial acting is a mix of american expressions w chinese verbal language, awkward to negotiate. Not v smooth as one character, he was not convincing as a doctor - doctors are not timid and shy type, they work on the body - nor as a spy. V strange, a movie w such a gd looking actor, how could it have been more convincing? Is there something to do w the script? could the story be tweaked more to make it fit the foreign brought up young man who could avenge his shi-fu? (master/father) Script has some problems.
Anyway, this movie to me, is about aesthetics and it has achieve this.
Still the movie is very attractive, I had wanted to see a Jiang Wen movie, so this one is like as i described.

Story line is face, and movie has no slack, no lag. I watched it to look at Angelica's performance. Jack Nicholson, dont understand why hes supposed to be such an attractive leading man. ;)
Blues Brothers 1980****
was asked to sing this for an audition, so after I learnt it, sang it, this song of 40yrs ago - i decided to watch the movie again, after making the selfie tape. Watched it in the 80s but did not remember anything, except there was a scene in a prison, jailhouse rock. Didnt understand the story line maybe? but had zero memories as I rewatch the whole movie, amazing.
Now, i re watched it, it is a fantastic movie!! Its got everything; all the iconic american cities, shops, car chase, cheap hotels, gospel singers, and the great great muscians, cab calloway, Ray Charles, its a terrifically terrible musican + car chase, everything Americana in this movie, so much fun to watch and so good.
Recommended. Its in the hall of fame for American classic film, and rightly deserving of it.
Its at once light and funny and authentic north american culture, visually, musically, and v warm. And Aretha Franklin, the best!!!
Very elegant, deep, melancholic and warm movie, i have written a review in 2016, will find the link and post it , stay tune. I remember this, as I had just watched L'immensita, curiously the movie just reminds me of this. It is also visually reminds me of "The Foxtrot", maybe because of the music, or the dancing?
maybe there is another Italian movie ... that i have written a review in detail, more later.

Penelope moves so well, a dancer has such good body movements. Shes v credible in the movie, but the movie itself is slightly thin, it does not have the gravity that the theme pretends to have. The husband character is dry, stressed out. He needs a divorce, for himself, and for his wife. We pity the whole society for creating such a set up. Realistic but such a sad life, why women suffer today, whether you are rich or poor, they somehow end up like this. hmmm Woman should have their own purpose in life, otherwise, rich or poor, you end up like this.
