 "Titane" **** dir Julia Ducournau

"Titane". - music is gd, visuals v sharp, very gd actors both female n male leads. And all the actors have v well sculpted faces and presence. I like quite a few of the scenes. The dance on top of the fire truck is v gd everything fits well together. At the end I was v curious to see what the baby looks like... Well he's like a little dragon w silver spikes down the back. More later. It definitely has enough depth to merit the Palme d'or.

Every scene and the flow of the story could be read on more than one level; because of this it has a depth that is usually not in horror films.

In fact, todays movie goers are much more sophisticated than the previous generation. They are able to read the multiplicity very quickly which makes me think, how tough it is to be an actor or actress today. Both leads are excellent, you want to love them.

I chatted a bit w a friend who is taking calligraphy classes, and another friend is giving talks. Then, I found a sample of my calligraphy that I did with a MontBlanc pen. The nib was v responsive, v nice. Many quill nibs also has this very sensitive feeling as you write along. But in fact with all writing utensils, even a piece of real quill - like a goose feather thats sliced - or a glass pen from Murano, all could be fashioned to have the response that we have individual preferences for. What is nice about calligraphy? Is it different from painting? Yes it is. Calligraphy has to do with words, it has embedded clear meaning that a painting doesnt have. Each art covers a different ground. Calligraphy is a bit like qi gong. You go with the flow. So for those who dont know what to do with the hour and want something pleasant. Calligraphy is a good thing to do. V simple. Paper and writing utensil and ink. And off you go. Pay attention to the speed, to the shape and the pressure you put onto the pen. The gesture, the flow. Because it is writing, if you are just beginning and you dont know what to write, then you could copy your favorite poem by hand - this way you dont need to think of which words to use. You just write.

Dont have a favorite poem? Just name the stuff on your desk or what you see infront of your window. Write down the list of words. Or a list of colors you see. You will soon have written yourself a beautiful poem. Master piece #1 !!!

剛看了＂春天的麻雀＂Spring Sparrow. 

"电影很感人也很美丽。鄧丽君的歌声正是这个年代的人渴望的 80s。好看很真誠.  

A lot of the scenes are done in a v sweet way, almost like a Miyazaki animation film but played by real people.   For example the guy and girl courting in the field next to a tree. The simple hand holding etc.   This could be compared to love stores set in thé 70's. The 60's the 90's.  Compared to other memory lane type of films, this one is a pure sweetness film.  Unlike the other ones w more contrast, such as A Brighter Summer Day by Jiang Wen - also about growing up, or many others (will find titles), those other ones are more constrasted with major events of the respective epoque, which includes more blood, sweat and tears - with more granular texture in the stories. This one is in the 80s, the dawn of a golden age, where people are trying things out.   I like this too, it corresponds to its time.  Pregnant women could also cheat on buying a few potatoes not paying etc.  the milder, smaller trials and errors are not less true, less sincere.  This film looks like its got  much less budget than the other big budget films - but this film is in another style - a lot of the reality is shown via an extended time used over small everyday tasks, for example in the market when the 4 young men tried to buy food, every cent is evaluated over and over again.  Not w sadness but w much care, because they want to make their trip to Beijing a success and must be careful.  

I would say the film is a finer embroidery almost, a basic stylistic difference from a big budget commercial film.  Took 1.5years to make.  

A sweet memory of difficulties of growing up , bursting out... And the life cycles of challenges. Looking back, we remember the soft gentle moments, beauty, courage and triumph. Sweet peaceful, the good the bad and smile.

By the way, an important detail about name attributions for Teresa Teng (credit detail: 鄧丽君 Teresa Teng ; should not be written as Deng LiJun - just like Confucius is a known as a "brand" name and not to be written as KongZi)
