As others have said leather won't do the job. I've had extensive training with one of the top chainsaw instructors in the country and leather was never mentioned as a choice . I cut for over 40 years with nothing but luck on my side , but now wear chaps as part off my PPE . I heat with wood and also provided disaster response to hurricanes, tornado's and ice storms that all brig down the trees through my job that I retired from today. as a side note chaps will not work with an electric chainsaw because of the constant torque . there's lots of good info on utube too!
